Biography
Tri-City All-Stars was founded by bassist Pete Murphy,
and guitarist Justin Molineaux in early 2002 as an attempt to bring together
some of the best young musicians in the Albany, New York area. The two contacted
drummer Bill Przylucki, with whom they had both played before. With each
member coming from a jazz background, and having plenty of experience with
blues and rock in a small ensemble setting, the band's sound took
on that of blues/funk with the elements of jazz. Perhaps the most prominent
of these elements is improvisation. Instead of writing songs, Tri-City All-Stars
writes 4 - 8 measure heads that are used as a "chorus" to return to
in a jam, leaving the rest to be made up on the spot.
This degree of improvisation proved to be anything
but ordinary at the band's first gig, a small coffeehouse at a local church,
earning the band raved reviews. After a few gigs, the group began to invite
keyboradist Dominic Fallacaro to sit in at practices and gigs. Dominic's
smooth jazz and funk sound blended well with the band's natural sound, leaving
no question that he should be a member. In November of 2002, he was invited
to join the group, and graciously accepted.
The first order of business now that Dominic was
aboard, was to record a demo tape and plan a rigorous gigging schedule
in the Capital Region (Albany, Schenectady, Troy). In the spring and summer
of 2003 the band plans to appear at several local Restaurants, also included
in this schedule are performances at Saratoga Winners (Colonie, NY), Valentines
(Albany), Washington Park (Albany), and The Egg (Albany). That schedule will
be appearing on this site soon.
